Unable to EDIT Adobe PDF/A

Unable to EDIT Adobe PDF/A

Problem Description

When trying to edit a pdf Adobe, I get the below error message:
"Editing a PDF will cause the PDF to no longer comply with PDF/A. Are you sure you wish to continue?"

As the error describes, the file is using the PDF/A standard which is intended for archival purposes files (typically scanned to pdf files). You can read more about this here. https://www.pdfa.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/PDFA-in-a-Nutshell_1b.pdf

Problem Solution

At Abdo, we don't care about maintaining the PDF/A standard so here is how you can set adobe to disregard this and allow you to just save the file as a normal pdf.

Steps

  1. In Adobe 1. Click Edit -> preferences
  2. Documents tab/category
  3. PDF/A view mode --> set to never.
