Scheduling mobile notifications

Scheduling mobile notifications

Teams & email notifications are great, though they may interrupt your personal time if you have them enabled on your phone or mobile device. Luckily, Teams and Outlook mobile have features to schedule silenced notifications, giving you the convenience of only receiving notifications on your phone during your regular working hours or whenever you need to help you better balance your work and personal life. Here’s how:

Teams

  1. On your mobile device, open Teams, tap your profile picture, and then select Notifications. (If you don’t see Notifications here: select Settings, then go under Abdo Eick & Meyers LLP and select Notifications.)

  1. To set your hours, go to Block notifications and select “During quiet time.”

  1. Set the daily timeframe for which you don’t want to receive notifications, in other words your personal time. Note: the starting time is when you end your workday.

If you have multiple accounts on your Teams app, you can edit the quiet hours for each account according to your needs.

Outlook

  1. On your mobile device, open Outlook, tap your profile picture, and then select the notification bell to the right of your email address.

If you have multiple accounts on your Outlook app, make sure the email address for the selected account is your @aemcpas.com address before you select the notification bell

  1. Once you have selected the notification bell, this opens the “Do Not Disturb” settings. You will see several options to turn off Outlook notifications either for a temporary amount of time or on a schedule.

  1. To stop email notifications from showing up during your personal time, we recommend selecting “During Evenings” and “During Weekends.” Edit the time frames as needed to match your schedule.

Now that you have scheduled quiet hours/days and do not disturb for Teams and Outlook on your phone and/or other mobile device(s), your personal time should have fewer interruptions from work. If you have multiple accounts on your Outlook and Teams apps, you can edit the notification schedule for each account according to your needs.
