Using Windows Voice Recorder

Windows 10 Instructions

Launch Voice Recorder

Head to your windows search bar and type "voice" the voice recorder app should be the first result.



Record a Voice Clip

1. Click microphone button on the left to begin recording.



2. Once you are finished click the stop button in the middle of the screen.



3. You will see all of your past recordings to the left of the microphone button. Give your recording a listen to make sure you are happy with it!



Upload Your Recording

1. You can access your voice recordings by clicking the three dots to the bottom right of the voice recorder app and then selecting open file location.



2.  By default your recordings are saved to C:\Users\%username%\documents\sound recordings. Feel free to copy this path directly into your file explorer to go directly to the folder.



3. Head to the Microsoft form https://forms.office.com/r/DViYm9ZEUq and upload your preferred recording then click submit. You will promptly get a confirmation email that includes the link to play your recording.



Windows 11 Instructions

Install Sound Recorder App

Windows 11 does not have a voice recorder app preinstalled. You will need to head to the Microsoft store to install it.

1. Search "store" and select Microsoft Store. 



2. At the top of the window search "sound recorder".



3. Select windows sound recorder.



4. Click Install.



5. You can now search "sound recorder" to launch the app.



Record a Voice Clip

1. Launch the sound recorder app.
2. Make sure the correct microphone is selected and then click the red record button.



3. Click the stop button when you are done recording.



Upload Your Recording

1. Your recording will then show up on the left of the app. Right click on it and select "Show in folder" to find the location that it was saved.



2. By default your recordings are saved to C:\Users\%username%\documents\sound recordings. Feel free to copy this path directly into your file explorer to go directly to the folder.
